| January 31st 2006: Yarra Valley Water prize winner salutes EcoVerta |
How to cut your domestic water usage with Advanced Eco Technologies
just as Mr. Peter Binks and his wife Brenda of Croydon Hills (Vic. Australia) have done over the past two years:
The first step in their project was rewarded by Yarra Valley Water awarding them a prize of a slimline storage tank to collect roof run-off and recycle it for garden watering and toilet flushing.
The second step was completed when Peter won the Yarra Valley Water Savewater Award in 2005. The prize he received was the installation of an "EcoVerta Mixa" a non-energy consuming water saving device made by the Advanced Eco Technologies Pty Ltd.
Previously Peter and his wife Brenda had used buckets to collect the cold water that precedes hot water when showering or washing, and put it on the garden. The newly installed EcoVerta Mixa now does this automatically for them by delivering this otherwise wasted water to his slimline tank.
The EcoVerta Mixa is installed under the bathroom floor and is connected to hot water supply for the bath, shower and hand basin.
The diverted water is piped directly into the storage tank at mains pressure for use as before.
To quote Peter, "it is fabulous how the EcoVerta Mixa does what it does and without using any power." His combined efforts in saving water have been officially recognised by his water supply service as being only 30% of the average household in his area.
